Dedicated in 2007, the Pastor William & Martha Cox Garden of Peace is near the front entrance of our sanctuary. It provides a safe and serene final resting place for the cremains of Olivet members and their immediate families, plus former members, staff, and their immediate families. The Garden is a beautifully landscaped, peaceful, private, and quiet place for remembrance, prayer, and meditation. Brass plaques in the Garden memorialize those interred there, and additional plaques remember loved ones interred elsewhere. More than 50 interments have occurred since 2007.
The garden landscaping is maintained by a dedicated team of volunteers, called “Garden Angels.” Garden Angels are assigned a two-week period sometime during the year’s growing season (May-October) during which they complete very light gardening, including watering flowers, picking up trash, and removing occasional weeds. It’s a rewarding way to serve others and make an impact at Olivet, while embracing God’s green creations.
