Your welcome team is putting the final touches on the furniture for the atrium. We have two more pillows coming and two more “seal” colored chairs for the glass table. When the chairs arrived, some of them seemed a bit wobbly and were sent back. Furniture Row is scheduled to bring those two missing chairs and repair the others on Monday, Dec. 23. You will note a decorative box on the glass table. The box contains Windex wipes. Glass tables are useful but will often show fingerprints and dust. The Windex wipes are provided in a convenient location for anyone who feels so called to wipe the table down.
We hope that you find the furniture attractive and useful. I want to personally thank the committee: Karen Hamilton, Cherie Bischoff, Linda Burnett, Sue Hamen, Sandy Browning, Lana Heintz, Terry Lovett, and Cathy Sanderson. They have gone on shopping trips, researched the best items online and consulted with professionals. They have added seasonal floral arrangements to the Welcome Center furniture. They have been truly invested in this initiative of making a comfortable and pleasant welcome space in the Welcome Center and atrium.
I also want to extend gratitude to Veh and Son Furniture. Paul, one of the owners, has been so easy to work with. Delivery was free and completed by one of the owner’s very gracious sons. Paul was even able to cancel an additional piece that we had ordered but realized was too much for the space after getting the initial groupings. He was always available and he waived an extra tariff charge.
Our gratitude to Michelle Lane also who checked on the price and advised us as to the groupings and fabrics that would work best. The groupings came in only three fabrics at the low price point at which we purchased them. The other two fabrics were too close to the color and pattern in the carpet, leaving us just one choice, the lighter color. We will treat the furniture after Christmas, when the preschool is not in session. We are assured that the fabrics today are quite stain resistant. Nevertheless, lids on coffee cups and other preventive care are assumed when eating and drinking around the furniture.
A beautiful addition to the atrium is a quilt designed and made by Shirley Breitzman, wife of Rick Breitzman and mother of Mandy Tetreau. The quilt enhances the space and connects us emotionally with our membership. The donation of the quilt is much appreciated.
As we complete this initiative, the Welcome Team is interested in your input. We are Olivet, “The Welcome Place”. Look around you. Listen. Taste, smell, and feel. Use your senses to check – are we welcoming? Do we make guests and members feel welcome without intruding? What can be done to enhance our welcome? We are interested in your opinion. Please talk to any one of our team members or email me at marktinajohn@gmail.com.
